The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, accompanied by his wife, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, have successfully completed two significant apostolic visits to the Western North Region and Brong Ahafo Region ‘B’.
As part of their ongoing pastoral care and leadership support across the nation, the first visit took place at Higher Ground Aseemblies of God, Sefwi Bekwai, where Rev. Wengam and his wife were warmly welcomed by pators, their spouses, retired ministers, widows of deceased pastors, and church members.
A special highlight of the occasion was the surprise display of branded T-shirts featuring the images of the General Superintendent and Lady Mrs. Wengam, worn by participants as a symbolic welcome to the first couple.
Event
The event was marked by an intense three-hour forty-minute prayer session, personally led by Rev. Wengam where prayer topics covered included repentance, thanksgiving, adoration, spiritual warfare, and intercession.
Special prayers were also offered for stalled church projects, distressed pastors, and rural congregations.
Rev. Wengam preached a message titled “The Clarion Call to Make God’s Temple a House of Prayer,” urging ministers to prioritise and reignite prayer within their local assemblies.
Wedding vows
A significant moment of the visit was when the General Superintendent led married couples to renew their wedding vows, reinforcing the importance of marital unity in ministry.
In an act of generosity, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association, presented cash gifts and cloths to widows, retired ministers, and pastors' wives emphasising that these gifts were part of her personal ministry, supported privately by her husband.
In appreciation, Rev. Alex Akaa Boateng, the Regional Superintendent, presented kente cloths and framed portraits to the first couple, expressing gratitude for their visit, spiritual impartation, and the material blessings extended to attendees.
Brong Ahafo Region ‘B’
The second apostolic visit took Rev. and Lady Mrs. Wengam to the Brong Ahafo Region ‘B’, hosted at the Full Gospel Assemblies of God in Techiman.
Upon arrival, they were received with a colourful cultural display. They were welcomed by the Regional Superintendent, Rev. Moses Kwame Nasimong, and his executive committee members.
In his welcome address, Rev. Nasimong highlighted the region’s natural and cultural resources, stressing that statistics indicate that the region has 94 ministers, 200 churches, and approximately 13,860 members. He further gave an overview of ongoing church projects.
The General Superintendent again led an extended three-and-a-half-hour prayer session, focusing on thanksgiving, repentance, spiritual warfare, and intercession. Specific prayers were lifted for ongoing church building projects and pastors serving in deprived communities.
Rev. Wengam delivered a sermon titled “How to Turn Your Local Church into a House of Prayer”, drawn from Matthew 21:12-15. He challenged pastors to embed prayer as a core ministry activity, drawing from his own local church experience to encourage daily and consistent prayer gatherings.
As in the previous visit, he led couples in the renewal of their wedding vows, affirming the sanctity and strength of marriage in ministry life.
Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam continued her compassionate outreach, presenting cash gifts and cloth to widows, wives of retirees, and pastors’ wives, while retired ministers also received financial support.
In a closing gesture of gratitude, the regional leadership presented special gifts to Rev. and Lady Mrs. Wengam, recognising their ongoing commitment to supporting ministers and their families.
Rev. Nasimong noted that the annual apostolic visit has become a defining moment of encouragement, empowerment, and renewal for ministers in the region, and expressed the hope that this tradition would be sustained.
