Under its 2025 national theme “Pray Without Ceasing,” the Assemblies of God,Ghana has witnessed a remarkable prayer movement sweeping across both national and local gatherings of the church.

Among the departments within the church leading this spiritual exercise is the Joy Fellowship, an auxiliary of the Women’s Ministries, whose membershave embraced the call to constant prayer with renewed fervour.

Throughout the year, the Joy Fellowship organised a series of impactful programmes at the national, regional, district, and local levels each centred on prayer, intercession, and revival. The atmosphere at their most recent nationwide prayer event reflected this deep spiritual awakening.

Greater Accra East Region

When AGTV visited the Greater Accra East Region’s prayer centre, it was a wonderful sight to behold with women praying earnestly, singing hymns of faith, and declaring God’s promises over their families, churches, and the nation.

In an interview, the National Organiser of Joy Fellowship, Mrs. Gladys Akoto described the theme as a divine reminder of the power and necessity of prayer in every season of life.

“This year’s theme has strengthened our fellowship and deepened our unity,” she said. “We have seen God’s hand in our families, our health, and even in our ministry growth. Women are praying more, and testimonies keep coming in.”

Heartbeat of church

The Joy Pastor for the Greater Accra East Region, Rev. Theophilus Odonkor also emphasised that prayer has remained the heartbeat of the church.

“Prayer is not an event; it’s a lifestyle,” he explained. “The theme ‘Pray Without Ceasing’ has reminded us that every challenge, every blessing, and every season must be bathed in prayer.”

Adding a historical and maternal touch, the former National Organiser of the Joy Fellowship, Rev. Mrs. Abena Darko, highlighted the vital role of mothers in prayer.

“A praying mother is a shield for her home and community,” she said. “But our prayers must go beyond our own children. We must intercede for other children, for the nation’s youth, and for families in distress. That is true motherhood.”

Renowned gospel artiste, Madam Comfort Acheampong also graced the event, sharing her reflections on the importance of prayer in ministry.

“Prayer sustains the gift,” she advised. “As gospel ministers, we shouldn’t focus on what we receive before we serve. Let’s depend on God through prayer. That’s where the real strength for ministry comes from.”

Members

Members of the fellowship echoed similar sentiments, testifying how the theme had transformed their personal and spiritual lives. Many spoke of restored families, healed relationships, and renewed faith through persistent prayer.

As the year draws to a close, it is clear that the Assemblies of God Women’s Ministries  through the Joy Fellowship  have not only embraced the call to pray without ceasing but have also demonstrated alife-changing power.

From the fervent national prayer sessions to the intimate local gatherings, the message remains the same: a praying woman changes everything.
